Local and Regional Economic Resilience and Adaptability

The repeated severe recessions over the past forty years or so raise the key issue of how local and regional economies respond to and recover from such shocks: that is how resilient such economies are. This research strand is concerned with defining, measuring and explaining local and regional economic resilience and with how resilience relates to on-going and long-run economic adaptation

Work on this topic forms part of an ESRC funded Research Project on How Regions React to Recession: Resilience, Hysteresis and Long Run Impacts (Grant ES/1035811/1). There is a dedicated Team to this project and a Steering Group has also been set up.
