Unlocking the Potential for Local Economic Growth
The degree to which policy can change the economic performance and trajectory of cities and regions has become a key focus of debate. While some are sceptical that policy has any significant and long term impacts, others argue that judicious policy can have a major impact on the resilience competitiveness and growth of local and regional economies. This research theme is focused on critically evaluating these debates and examining the outcomes of local economic interventions and regeneration policies. It aims to provide an evidence-based assessment of the best ways to stimulate local economic growth and encourage recovery from recession.
