Research Microscope Room (R.G.West Laboratory)

Introduction

The Research Microscope Room provides miscroscopy facilities. This room
is also known as the R.G.West Laboratory after Professor
R.G.West FRS
who was formerly a director of the Subdepartment of Quaternary
Research, University of Cambridge.

Equipment

This room is equipped with a range of high-power stereo microscopes,
and an excellent pollen reference collection. Modest computing facilities
and a small reference library are also available. The room is used for
pollen counting and other research work by PhD students of the Quaternary
Palaeoenvironments Group
.

Health and Safety

Bench space is assigned on a needs-led basis. Only laboratory staff
and trained workers may use this facility. Users must ensure that the relevant
Risk Assessment form(s) have been completed before use. Microscopes are
very sensitive and expensive pieces of equipment. Please use them with
great care and always switch off and cover after use.
