Annual Report 1998: Staff

During the final preparation of this Report, the Department received very sad news. During the Lent Term, we heard that Sam Akech, a recent Ph.D. graduate, had died in Nigeria. Then, we were all shocked by the completely unexpected death of our friend and colleague, Graham Smith, in Addenbrooke's hospital on the evening of Friday 23 April, after a short illnesss. He will be sorely missed.
