MPhil in Environmental Science
The Department will not be running this MPhil in academic year 2012-13 and will therefore not be offering admission for October 2012. We expect to run the course again for admission for October 2013 for the academic year 2013-14.
Examination requirements
1. Environmental Science Options
Four broadly-defined exercises (each are 12.5 % of assessment). The exercises are of varied character tailored to each course element (they may be essays, laboratory projects; IT-based modelling and analysis projects; or field-work based projects led by academic staff).
Exercise 1: based on one choice from: Introduction/Further Environmental Modelling; Introduction/Further Environmental Monitoring; Introduction/Further Environmental Reconstruction; each incorporating aspects from research design elements of the MPhil.
Exercise 2: based on one choice from: Introduction/Further Environmental Modelling; Introduction/Further Environmental Monitoring; Introduction/Further Environmental Reconstruction; each incorporating aspects from research design elements of the MPhil.
Exercise 3: An exercise based on the specialist theme taken in Term 2.
Exercise 4: An second exercise based on the specialist theme taken in Term 2.
2. The Thesis
The thesis is of not more than 16,000 words (50% of assessment).
